• NSN is showing off a LTE femtocell for China Mobile. Not long ago I said the future is LTE. Well, the future is coming much faster than I predicted.

• Nintendo is droping the Wii from 250 to 200. Why ? Cause they can. Nintendo is the only maker turning profit on hardware so when the demand dropped from extremely hot to just hot they just readjust the price. Though cookies Sony and Microsoft.

• On the subject of though cookies, Sony is pushing ahead with the pathetic motion controllers. Between the Wii and Project Natal (if it ever goes anywhere that is) this is going to be the death of PS3.

• Water is everywhere! Not only we found water on the Moon but there’s also water on Mars.

• Clearwire, the WiMAX guys, say they can switch to LTE just like that. Just saying you know, the stock doesn’t need to go bust when WiMAX does. Meanwhile, NSN is doing LTE voice which is interesting cause voice is kind of forgotten on the LTE spec.

• Motorola has finally announced their Android phone, the CLIQ. The home screen is kind of interesting and the Blur aggregation system shows potential but it might get overwhelmed by the fact the phone is kind of meehhh. The camera is nice but the keyboard looks really awkward (I’m looking at you too Nokia). The screen is OKish but it doesn’t have WiFi. It’s a ButPhone!

• T-Mobile and Orange want to merge in UK. Somehow I think we’ll see some more consolidation in Europe.

• People were reporting Nokia was going to plant its feet regarding N900 breakage by carriers. Turns out such reports were greatly exaggerated and Nokia welcomes carrier “customization”.

• And cause everybody wants safe children the scumbags at Sentry/FamilySafe are selling children’s IMs to copyright loving companies such as Fox and Viacom. Bring out the wild horses …

• On unnews news, iTunes9 breaks Pre sync. Notice the major version bump there, now you just have to upgrade.

• In a rather funny turn of events a Mexican artist is sueing Sony for piracy. If the statutory damages precedents from recent US copyright related cases hold Sony is looking at paying USD 4B (yeah, 4000 million). Somehow, I don’t think they will.

• In solar news, a massive 2GW solar plant will appear in Nevada.

Yes, LTE is going to kill not only WiMax but WiFi.
In about 4 or 5 years we’ll have LTE picoBTS instead of WiFi routers and just have LTE in all devices. That means seamless handoffs of both voice and data (which will be one in LTE) when you move to and from home.
