Turns out when there’s no for-pay way to get to content people use the not-for-pay ways. But that’s ok cause BBC says once something hits the Internet it becomes public domain. No really, if it’s available to most people who have a computer it’s public domain.
Atari, deuchebags Inc. Maybe they can join up with the oscillococcinum deuchebags who can sue a blogger for describing their process. Vendor says people need to buy its product. The BP spill keeps on giving.

Week In Review 2011W33

HP is no longer a PC company and HP is no longer a webOS hardware company either. HP, the original hardware company, brought in a SAP CEO to turn it into a software company. I believe Mr Hewlet and Mr Packard are not amused.
Apple doctored evidence against Samsung. Or maybe not. People can’t seem to make up their minds.
The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit says only difficult math problems are patentable, not thought processes. This is interesting cause while a kickass DCT implementation is still patenteable, bogus stuff like 1-click shopping is not. Security methods to enable 1 click shopping might be though. There’s another huge leap for US coming from courts this week. Teachers can’t be sued for denying the mystical teapot, lepricorns, unicorns or creationism.
China praises UK censorship. Yes, that’s the point we’re at today.
At this point with Pakistan letting China look at the downed nighthawk and anon poking US defense complex so full of holes we can only assume the chinese intelligence owns it, things don’t look too good for US. But hey, with US agency letting high finance crooks off the hook themselves it might not matter.

Breaking news: Google acquires Motorola Mobile. Now the Nortel story makes a lot more sense. There’s 3 guys you don’t want to mess with in mobile, Nokia, Ericsson and Motorola. Either one is probably capable to sue the radio out of your phone so locking horns with them is bad for business as Apple discovered. With Motorola’s patent portfolio and months of Apple marketing it’s ok to file injunctions on vague patent reasons I’m sure Google lawyers will have a field day. Specially seeing as Motorola helped bootstrap Apple’s phone business and they probably had access to some Motorola secrets.
Apps are so 2010. That’s what Nokia says :) Well, I guess they have to say something to keep attention away from N9 not being released in US to keep Microsoft happy.
Apple keeps the patent steamroller going in Europe and keeps avoiding Google. On the other hand Apple tells Lodsys they have to sue Apple not the developers. Confused much ?
Linkedin pulled a facebook. I’m not sure if I should be shocked. And Google bring one +games but in a non douchebag, annoying way. Or at least they promise. And to keep things surreal, as not-evil-google pushes further into RealName(tm) land South Korea abandons real name internet ID.
After MS, Google gives EU data to CIA/FBI/DHS/NSA/…. The cloud is great and all until your cloud provider has servers in China. Or USA.
